[-ʃ-], eigentlich Shibata Zeshin [ʃi-], japanischer Maler und Lackmeister, * Edo (heute Tokio) 1807, ✝ Tokio 1891; studierte nach der Lehre bei einem Lackmeister bei den führenden Meistern der Shijōschule in Kyōto Malerei. Der eigenwillige Stil seiner Gemälde bestimmt auch den Dekor seiner Lackarbeiten, die in Europa dem Jugendstil Anregungen gaben.
